Dashboards
Agricultural health monitoring and land degradation
The dashboard modules below leverage remote-sensed satellite imagery and provide analysis of agricultural health and farmland degradation. The first tool, the Agriculture Health Monitoring module, provides precise measurements of NDVI and NDMI changes over time in user-defined areas of interest, beginning in 2019. This module is automatically updated in concurrence with the release of new satellite imagery. The second tool, the Agricultural Land Degradation module, measures the extent to which farmland has physically degraded or fallen into disuse – based on several diagnostic metrics related to NDVI/NDMI and soil salinity. Though not as spatially precise as the analysis aggregated into 5.6 km2 hexagons, the analytical timeframe of this module spans back to 2000 and will be updated on a quarterly basis. Updates and expansions to these modules will likely occur in the future; alterations will be reflected in the technical guidebook below and announced to CA-SYR’s distribution list. At the moment, the dashboard is best used on a laptop or desktop computer.
